Biography

Short Biography

Pianist Victoria Tzotzkova has been praised for her “unique musical personality” and for having “a golden tone” (The New York Concert Review). She combines a career as a performer with research on the experience of musical sound, and practices keyboard harmony together with Romantic-era improvisation techniques. She holds a PhD from Columbia University and is affiliated with MIT. Her performances include Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, The Miller Theater, and The Iridium.

Long Biography

Victoria Tzotzkova began her piano studies as a child in Sofia, Bulgaria, before continuing her training at the Manhattan School of Music, where she worked with a number of renowned instructors. Alongside her solo career she has been an active chamber musician, co-founding the ClassicArt Chamber Ensemble. Her doctoral thesis, “Theorizing Pianistic Experience: Tradition, Instrument, Performer,” brought together her interests in performance and research. Her work has been supported by a number of institutions, and she has held teaching positions at Columbia and Harvard.
